The South Kingstown Veterans Fireman’s Association, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the spirit and historical equipment of the volunteer fire department of South Kingstown. The association proudly owns the Aberdeen, an 1876 Hand Tub. Originally built for Peabody, MA, and named the Sidney C. Bancroft, the tub remained in Massachusetts until it was purchased by the association in 1965. It was then renamed the Aberdeen, in honor of the first hand pumper acquired for South Kingstown in 1870, with the support of Rowland G. Hazard. The association operates independently of all fire companies, fire districts, and municipal departments.
